Meet Kim

Experienced person-centred counsellor in North Yorkshire

Since I was very young I have wanted to help people: fascinated by individuality and what makes us who we are. After finishing school I took my degree in psychology. I volunteered to support individuals with mental health issues becoming a qualified Mental Health First Aider in my workplace.  From there, my interest  grew and although my career took the road into retail and management, I found myself championing mental health in various ways alongside my full time job in shops and head office.

Whilst still working full time, I embarked on my counselling qualification, and counselling has been an important part of my life and my passion since.

I have an open, gentle and sincere approach and encourage you to work at your own pace. My personal experiences contribute to how important counselling is to me, and professionally I have been on the receiving end of mass redundancy, major restructures, significant work pressure and conflicting priorities. In the the past I have battled with my own anxiety, self-worth and confidence. I understand that sometimes life can seem like fighting a losing battle, but together we can talk it through, and I can help you to overcome this.

I have a wealth of experience through several years of working with clients across a broad range of issues including (but not limited to) anxiety, self worth, professional stress, bereavement, substance misuse, self harm, sexual violence, financial control and eating disorders.  I welcome individuals from all backgrounds and on all journeys in life. I take pride in supporting you to build your own self-worth and helping you to become the person you want to be.

Counselling sessions with me can be in person, virtual or via telephone. We decide on a schedule that suits us both if we decide to work together after our initial introductory session.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy , which provides us with a secure base for our work together: Ethics and standards for counselling and psychotherapy (bacp.co.uk). If you would like to book a counselling appointment with me, please use the button below to book an introductory session. All sessions should be paid for a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
